Camp I-Thonka-Chi

Last week, Trevor and I were able to volunteer as counselors at a burn survivor camp! I have been going to Camp I-Thonka-Chi since I was 10 years old, and the memories and people I have come to know from camp hold a very special place in my heart.  Now that I'm a counselor, I have the privilege of watching young burn survivors thrive and grow and leave camp with a renewed spirit.

I had 12-15 year old girls and was the lead counselor in our cabin. It was a really fun week and I just can never believe how fast the week goes by.  Every day is jam-packed of activities, projects, meals, evening gatherings, and different events every night. Talk about fun! Trevor has visited Camp John Marc (where burn camp is held) just once last August for the 20th Celebration of camp. This year was his first year to actually experience camp, the kids, and the traditions. I wasn't really sure how Trevor would like it, or how comfortable he would feel with the guys in his cabin.  He had never really been in a counselor role before, and he did a fabulous job! He had 14-15 year old boys, and I'm pretty sure they thought he hung the moon. Trevor is hooked on camp, so it looks like we will be going back for many years to come :)

For safety reasons, I cannot post pictures of campers, but here are some favorites from the week:
Some of my girls making fry bread on cookout night
One of the snakes Trevor caught at camp! Yuck.

Once campers, now counselors! Love this group!

First Time Blogger!

Over the past year, my older sister has really gotten me interested in the "blog world".  She got me hooked on a few great blogs and I have fallen in love with the idea of documenting stories and pictures online, so here I am! I am excited to have a place to journal, post pictures, and share memories and experiences with any who wish to read.  Here goes nothing... Enjoy!
