2 years

 June 26th, 2010

2 years ago we stood in front of our closest family and friends to promise our love to one another.

We vowed to love each other no matter what came our way in life,

to serve Christ by serving each other,

and to commit to each other spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

2 years ago I married my best friend, my strength. I married the man God picked just for me.

The pure joy, love and excitement that embodied that day are still fresh in my heart.

The sweet, sweet memories of that day will never leave my mind.

Trevor took me to a local restaurant for our anniversary date, a fancy little place called Stella's. Neither of us had been there so it was a fun treat for the occasion! Trevor had an Italian pizza that was delicious, and I had grilled pork tenderloin with apricot glaze- so good.  After dinner we came home, ate homemade vanilla Blue Bell with caramel and Hershey's chocolate, got cozy on the couch and popped in our wedding DVD.  We giggled at the funny things that happened and smiled from ear to ear while listening to those vows we told each other 2 years ago.  I am so very thankful for marriage the way God intended it to be.  Constant companionship throughout life is such a treasured blessing to me.

My prayer for the next year of our marriage is that we would be an example to others of what a christian marriage should look like- selfless, serving, and forgiving.

I am really looking forward to year #3. I wonder what will come our way this year?  New friends, challenges, blessings, jobs?  Whatever it is, I pray that we would seek the Lord and call upon HIM in our times of need, but also in times of praise.  Thank you Lord, for sweet blessings!

Our New Home!

When my sister was a junior at Tech, my parents bought the cutest 3 bedroom house in Lubbock for her to live there. They figured it would be a good investment since I planned on attending Tech, and even though my brother was not even in high school yet, they figured he would end up in Lubbock, too. They were right! After my sister graduated, it was my turn to live in the house with 2 roommates. The next summer, Trevor and I got married and moved into a teeny-tiny one bedroom apartment. The following May, the house was empty again! Trevor and I had the privilege of renting it from my parents for the last year, but in August, my brother will be moving in with 2 of his buddies.  So for us, that meant moving time!  We got so lucky because while Trevor was doing an estimate one day in May, he was able to look around in a great little house a little farther north.  It is an older house, but the family who owns it have completely redone it- literally. Everything except the windows have been updated and replaced. We moved in with less than a week's notice at the very end of May.  It is so perfect for us and we have enjoyed living in it so far!

Here are some pictures the weekend we moved in, please excuse the boxes and clutter!

Welcome to the Real World

Lots has happened since the last entry I wrote... I'm going to give you an update via pictures. Lots and lots of pictures :)

Graduation weekend! May 19th and 20th
Saturday night was the Pinning Ceremony where we were pinned as Nurses! So exciting!

This is Mimi and all of her grandchildren that were able to help celebrate. Guns up!
All of the grandkids who are graduates or current students at Texas Tech
All of the Tech grads in the family:

The commencement ceremony was on Sunday at 2 pm.  I was so so excited to finally be done.

Allie and Judd SURPRISED me and drove to Lubbock Sunday morning to be there for the graduation ceremony. Their baby boy, Josiah, turned 1 year old on Saturday, so I knew they wouldn't be able to attend the festivities.  But, as I walked through the tunnel of the United Spirit Arena during the ceremony, I looked up and to my left to find my family.  I spotted them and immediately saw Allie standing next to them, waving and smiling to get my attention. Seriously?! I almost cried right then. Allie has always been a precious friend who makes everything exciting- birthdays, passing a test, etc. And college graduation was no exception :)  Thank you Allie and Judd!
 My sweet parents

Sweet Megan- so glad we finally met each other in nursing school. You have been a huge blessing and encouragement the last 2 years.

The first weekend of June, Trevor's cousin, Chelsea got married.  We drove in the night before and got to spend some time with family. The wedding was wonderful and Chelsea was beautiful.

The next day, Trevor and I woke up at 5 to get ready and leave for Meridian for a week at Camp John Marc! We were exhausted, but the excitement of camp got us out of bed :) I took a ton of pictures, but I cannot post pictures of campers, so these pictures are a little random. Here are a few:

The week after camp, I started my RN job on Wednesday, June 13! Since then we have done House Orientation, Nursing orientation, NICU classroom education, and NRP (Neonatal resuscitation).  I have one more week of training and education, and on Monday, July 2nd I will start patient care! I'm so blessed to have a job in a unit that I love. I can't wait!
That's all for now! :)
